About Dr. Bayes

Dr. Matt Bayes is a board-certified, fellowship-trained sports medicine physician with a national reputation in regenerative orthopedics. With more than 15 years of experience and deep roots in both clinical innovation and hands-on patient care, he’s helped thousands—from elite athletes to active adults—recover, move, and live with less pain. Known for his integrity, diagnostic precision, and patient-first mindset, Dr. Bayes is dedicated to providing care that’s highly personal and rooted in real results.

After earning his medical degree from Saint Louis University, Dr. Bayes completed his internship and residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego. He then served as a staff physician and Chief of Pediatrics at Naval Hospital Beaufort in South Carolina. In 2008, he returned to St. Louis to complete his fellowship in primary care sports medicine. Before founding Bayes Sports Medicine, he practiced at The Orthopedic Center of St. Louis then was a founding partner in Bluetail Medical Group—where he built a reputation for leadership in diagnostic ultrasound and regenerative therapy techniques.

Dr. Bayes believes every patient is an athlete—and every athlete deserves a better path to healing. That philosophy drives his passion for non-surgical orthopedics and regenerative care. Rather than rely on outdated, invasive treatments, he embraces next-generation solutions like PRP and stem cell therapy to help the body heal itself. His mission: to keep people active, pain-free, and doing what they love for as long as possible.
